on a remote server? (in this case Linode - there is no pc setup) I am relying on the router only. Is that acceptable?

I haven't been able to receive a login page so far based on this configuration.
I successfully ping my domain but no other IPs respond to pings.
I am able to view https://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/hotspotlogin.cgi/ with my browser and I receive an error message stating "Login must be performed through ChilliSpot daemon."- which means it is working. 
I have an image of what I am trying to achieve below.
