Topic: Chilispot on a single nic machine - How ?

Hi all,

Have a need to run chillispot on a single pc for local authentication.

The machine only has one network card, and that network card is connected directly to the internet.

ETH0 >> Direct to Internet

What I guess I need is a "virtual" second NIC (ETH1?) for chillispot to do DHCP on, and I need to make that the default for the machine, so that when I bring up the DHCP client, eth1 (chillispot), gives the machine an ip address. and when I run firefox I'll be taken direct to the chillispot login page.

Any thoughts as to how I create this virtual eth1 and tell chillispot and the PC about it?

I'm on debian etch.

Cheers
Mac

Maybe you could create a VPN interface terminated at a remote computer, and control the access to that using Chillispot?

Re: Chilispot on a single nic machine - How ?

you will need 2 NIC's to use chillispot. a VPN tunnel seems pointless.
