Topic: UAM Allowed

Hi,
I'm trying to add Paypal to the uam allowed white list...

My domain is working perfect but as soon that I'm trying to add other websites, BANG - Chilli is Dead beat!

My router: Buffalo HP-G54
F/W: DD-WRT v24 RC-3

I tried to add domain in UAMAllowed space,
I tried to add uamallowed paypal.com in Chilli additionnal info text zone (chilli still working but not paypal or any other website except my domain)
I tried to add --uamallowed paypal.com in Chilli additionnal info text zone (Dead beat)

I also tried to add it in admin>commands: nvram chilli_uamallowed=paypal.com
I also tried to add it in admin>commands: nvram chilli_uamallowed="paypal.com"

Should I break something to get it working (intimidating my router)

Re: UAM Allowed

in my conf i have google & yahoo and works both of then

uamallowed google.com, yahoo.com

the line is like this

Re: UAM Allowed

The problem is that paypal.com is using different and multiple IP addresses and when chilli resolves the ip address of paypal.com, which has multiple IPs, only the first one will be allowed which may lead to unexpected results...

Re: UAM Allowed

So is there anyways that I could allow Paypal.com so that peoples can buy time?

Re: UAM Allowed

SOLVED -
Do Not Forget to add the www. before Paypal's URL and also you must add www.paypalobjects.com to the uamallowed line

Re: UAM Allowed

Paypal, i only managed to get this working by allowing about 8 ip addresses. its possible to do it with DNS but its a pain, or i didnt do it right.

here are my IP's
WALLEDGARDEN1:66.211.168.65
WALLEDGARDEN2:66.211.168.97
WALLEDGARDEN3:216.113.188.35
WALLEDGARDEN4:216.113.188.65
WALLEDGARDEN5:216.113.188.64
WALLEDGARDEN6:216.113.188.34
WALLEDGARDEN7:216.113.188.25
WALLEDGARDEN8:66.211.168.129
WALLEDGARDEN9:216.113.188.9

Regards. .

Re: UAM Allowed

PayPal is using multiple IPs, constantly changing and rotating them, the worst is that they have different IPs from different countries, so these IPs may be good for your country but if an operator is in an other country, there's a great chance that you have to add new/different IPs.

The other thing is the Verified by Visa problem. If a user wants to use a credit card at a hotspot which is using Verified By Visa, he won't be able to pay because he/she will be forwarded to an external page for additional verification. Maybe to a visa site or maybe to his/her local bank's website.

So PayPal only solutions for hotspot will produce pain for some users and operators will lose money.

If i were a hotspot operator i will definately use an additional payment method with a real merchant account where VbV can be turned off or use a solution which is using different processors like www.hotspotsystem.com .

Re: UAM Allowed

Ok,
I finally found what was the whole thing about Paypal issue.

Forget all the IPs workaround(waste of time)

Make sure to put 4 urls to it
1st- www.paypal.com
2nd- www.paypalobjects.com
3rd- www.paypal.xxx  (your local paypal website)
last- www.paypalobjects.xxx (your local paypal website)

It is all well explain there:
